Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain Crowns are the most common procedures performed by Mexican dental clinics. Crowns are used to restore damaged teeth, both for cosmetic and functional purposes. Crowns restore the original shape and appearance of the teeth. It is also used to strengthen the compromised teeth, especially those that have had prior root canal treatments.
Typically, the first step in creating Porcelain Crowns is the preparation of the tooth. Afterwards, the Mexican dentist will take an impression and then install a temporary. The Mexican dental facility will send the impression to their labs. The waiting time is approximately five days to finish the permanent Crown. During the second visit, the finished Porcelain Crown is cemented onto the tooth. It is also common for dental clients to need a Root Canal (Endodontic Therapy) procedure prior to any Porcelain Crown work.
The two major classifications of Porcelain Crowns performed in Mexico are Porcelain Crowns fused to metal and All Porcelain (Metal-Free) Crowns.

Dental Implants
Dental Implants (Dental Implantology) are one of the best innovations in modern dentistry. A Crown supported by a Dental Implant is used to replace a missing tooth. The Dental Implant provides a long-term foundation for the crown. Instead of using Porcelain Crowns in the form of a Dental Bridge, a single Dental Implant with a crown eliminates the need for teeth anchoring. Dental Implants are also easier to clean than Dental Bridges, which often require the use of a special floss to clean under the Bridge.
Dental Implants are also used to support special dentures. The use of dentures secured by Dental Implants provides superior comfort and stability compared to removable dentures. The number of dental implants that can be used to support a denture range from 2-8 implants per mouth arch.
Although Dental Implants are among the most successful procedures performed by Mexican dentists, they require more trips to Mexico. They also require a longer treatment period. Specifically, standard Dental Implant clients must wait approximately four months to allow the Implant post to heal on the gum before the installation of the Porcelain Crown.

Porcelain Veneers
Many Americans travels to Mexico in pursuit of the perfect “Hollywood” smile. Porcelain Veneers are used to create a “bright” smile, fix chipped or crooked teeth, and solve irregularities in the teeth. Porcelain Veneers also help protect teeth with damaged surface. Good communication between the client and Mexican cosmetic specialist is very important when undergoing cosmetic procedures such as Porcelain Veneers. Therefore, it is important to see a Mexican dentist that speaks good English.
The first steps of installing Porcelain Veneers are the preparation and impression of the teeth. Temporaries will be installed until the Permanent Veneers are completed, which usually takes approximately five days. In more extensive dental treatments, clients have the option of requesting a model/replica of the teeth with the new Veneers. This will give the client an opportunity to view what the actual teeth will look like before the Permanent Veneers are installed. The Porcelain Veneers are then installed by the dentist in Mexico using special bonding cement.

Cosmetic Dentistry/Extreme Smile Makeover
Clients in need of extensive cosmetic dentistry (full mouth restoration) realize the most financial benefit by going to Mexico. Mexican dental procedures cost approximately 40-70% cheaper than comparable U.S. prices. For clients in need of an extreme smile makeover, the total savings can amount to twenty to thirty thousand dollars. Although extensive treatments require multiple visits to Mexico over an extended period of time, the cost of the transportation and lodging are simply negated by the savings provided by Mexican dentists.
When choosing a Mexican border facility for extensive cosmetic treatments, it is important to choose a team of dental specialists in same facility. Some extensive treatments require a Root Canal Specialist (Endodontist), Cosmetic Dentistry Specialist, Dental Implant Specialist, and Dental Anesthesiologist. Having the right dental specialists in the same facility offers the convenience and assurance that all the dentists will work smoothly as team for a successful dental treatment.
